About the Author
Robin Shaye received her B.A. degree in Music from Emmanuel College, Boston, Massachusetts.  She had been writing for several years, including televised news scripts,  newspaper, children's stories, and fiction.  However, after reading Battered Mothers Speak Out: A Human Rights Report on Domestic Violence and Child Custody in the Massachusetts Family Courts, 2002, from the Wellesley Centers for Women, she put those projects on the shelf and began writing "...Until You Die": The Narcissist's Promise.  Always an altruist, Robin wants to make a difference and feels by her ability to tell this true story may promote more awareness to the problem of domestic abuse bleeding into our legal system as well as provide hope and support to the victims who are afraid to leave their abusers.
In 2010, she completed 40 hours of advocacy training through The Domestic Violence Services Network.  She advocates for victims of domestic violence while offering immediate and follow-up crisis intervention services that incluse risk assessment, safety planning, and connection with supportive sommunity resources.
Despite the very serious topic of her book, Robin's focus is enjoying life with her family.  She keeps up with her music by playing the piano and teaching her daughter to play.  In her spare time, she likes to hike, run at the track with her daughter and dog, snow ski or sit on the rocks in Ogunquit, Maine with her family and look at the ocean.  Her philosophy of life is to experience everything possible in order to create memories.
most outrageous feat was competing in the Fear Factor Live at Universal Studio in Orlando, Florida.  She's hoping her next adventure will be swimming with dolphins.
Robin currently resides in Massachusetts with her daughter, cat and Portuguese Water Dog.

Getting to know you...
a little more about Robin Shaye

Q:     How long have you been writing?
My first attempt was a neighborhood newspaper when I was eight or nine.  I remember writing an editorial about a dog that was roaming loose with an admonishment for owners to always watch their dogs.  Sadly, I had no way of copying and distributing the newspaper.

Q:    What's your astrological sign?
A:     I'm a Leo - confident, loyal, stubborn and love the spotlight.  And I was born in the Chinese Year of the Rooster, which share many of the same characteristics as the Leo.

Q:    Why is "...Until You Die": The Narcissist's Promise an important book?
A:  It is a fact-based story of a marriage to a man who is a narcissistic sociopath utilizing control and  abuse that escalates until there is no sanctuary, even in the family courts.
Battered Mother's Speak Out:  A Human Rights Report on Domestic Violence and Child Custody in the Massachusetts Family Courts by The Wellesley Centers for Women provides comprehensive documentation and statistics of the injustices that occur in our family courts, supporting this book.

Q.  Who is Skylar Bauers?  Is she a real person?

A. Skylar Bauers is a real person who is a courageous survivor.  Her identity has been concealed for years.  Oprah Winfrey stated that, "In talking about the abuse - you release the shame (of being a victim)".  Skylar Bauers is a survivor, a writer and a speaker who is now brave enough to reveal that "...Until You Die": The Narcissist's Promise is my story.

Q:  Can you parallel John Bauers to someone in the media?

A.  He is a narcissistic sociopath who parallels many infamous criminals; OJ Simpson, Allen Blackthorne, Diana Downs, Jodi Arias. What makes him even more dangerous is that he takes pleasure in continued harassment - to simply kill his former spouse would take away his fun.

Q:    Do you write in other genres?
A:    I recently completed a children's book about death through the eyes of a young child in order to remove the fear of the unknown.  I have a fiction book about the lives and loves of musicians in a local rock band in the works.  I have written stories and poetry for my children.
I also started a blog called, "No More Fearful Whispers."

Q:    What is a typical writing day like?
A:    All consuming.  I love it but can sense when I am on a brain overload and need to stop....even for a day or two.

Q:    What do you like to do when you're not working?
I love exercise and staying active, particularly hiking.  You can't keep me out of the ocean when the waves are good, no matter how cold the water.  I am an excellent cook and enjoy trying new recipes.  I am addicted to Sudoku, love playing Gin and watching Jeopardy.  I thrive on competition.

Q:    Authors can be eccentric people. Do you have any eccentricities?
A:    I alphabetize my CDs and sort them by genre.  Is that eccentric?

Q:   If you were given $500 to spend in your favorite store, where would it be?
A:    I could easily spend it any bookstore.

Q:   What is your favorite dessert and why?
A:   Creme brulee.  It's subtle, sweet, smooth and crunchy.  The ultimate comfort food.
